Ford's US$28,350 Fathom electric truck will have built-in home power backup

A built-in inverter can supply up to 10 kW of AC power to a home, so no separate wall-mounted inverter box is needed.

Owners will still need at least the Ford Home Power Station to draw energy when power is cheapest and offset peak-hour use.

Ford has not set a price, but expects the station to cost half as much as the first-generation system, which debuted at around US$1,300.
