Lilly's retatrutide beats Ozempic on weight loss in a trial

Patients on the higher dose of retatrutide lost 20.9 per cent of their body weight, against 9.4 per cent on Ozempic.

Both retatrutide doses also cut blood sugar more, lowering A1C by 2.2 per cent against 1.8 per cent at 80 weeks.

What's next

Lilly plans to seek US approval next year. A second late-stage trial is testing retatrutide against tirzepatide, the ingredient in Zepbound.
