A hack exposes details of more than 40,000 US Homeland Security employees
Staff in the leak, by agency
- 1 CBP: more than 21,000
- 2 ICE: nearly 6,600
The leaked data lists names, work phone numbers and addresses of staff at agencies including Customs and Border Protection and Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
A group calling itself the Department of Peace said it got the data through Okta, a sign-in service; Okta says it has no evidence its systems were compromised. The nonprofit DDoSecrets put the data online.
What we know
- Bluesky blocks links to the site
- A search site went offline
Not yet
- Whether Okta was breached
Bluesky now blocks links to the DDoSecrets site, and a search site for the data went offline after Homeland Security sent a takedown notice. The department says it is working to address a potential breach.
