Zest launches an AI agent that books restaurants by text

The restaurant discovery app's new concierge answers text messages with suggestions and can check availability. It books tables through OpenTable, Resy and SevenRooms.

Zest links to users' credit cards through Plaid to learn where they eat, and says it looks only at food and drink transactions.

The concierge can join a group chat, blend everyone's tastes, run a vote in the thread and book a table for the group.

What's next

Zest began testing the concierge last month and is considering recommendations for shopping and other businesses. Booking and ordering are its first revenue lines.
