Binance says it remains on track to reopen withdrawals on Sunday, Nov 1, and will give an update once details are confirmed.

Co-CEO Richard Teng says more than one person carried out the hack, using methods such as a "self-destruct mechanism" to hide their tracks. Binance first pointed to a compromised engineer's laptop, then found "additional points of breach".

The theft is believed to be the largest in history, ahead of the US$1.5 billion Bybit heist in 2025. Two blockchain analytics firms point to North Korea's Lazarus Group; North Korea has always denied involvement in such attacks.
