Oracle plans to raise US$20 billion to fund its AI expansion

Oracle's planned fundraising

20 US$ billion

Oracle plans to raise US$20 billion through bond and share sales, regulatory filings showed Monday, to pay for its AI and cloud infrastructure.

Oracle shares fell 4 per cent in premarket trading on Monday, extending a decline of about 33 per cent this year.

Why it matters

Oracle had US$125.34 billion in borrowings as of Aug 31 and has significant exposure to OpenAI, the loss-making maker of ChatGPT.

Oracle aims to more than triple its revenue by fiscal 2030, to more than US$225 billion, and says it will raise no more than US$20 billion in additional AI financing through that year.
