Apple beats sales and profit forecasts as iPhone sales grow

Apple reported record revenue for a September quarter on Monday, driven by iPhone sales and services. iPhone and Mac sales beat estimates under CEO John Ternus, who took over from Tim Cook in September.

iPad revenue in the quarter

6.2 US$ billion

iPad revenue fell 10 per cent from a year earlier to US$6.2 billion, below the US$6.7 billion analysts expected, and Apple blamed supply constraints.

What we're seeing with memory pricing right now is unprecedented.

What's next

Apple expects a gross margin of 45 to 46 per cent in the December quarter, down from 47.9 per cent, largely because of higher memory costs. Its new foldable iPhone Duo remains in short supply.
