Technologies on China's draft export list

40 technologies

China's commerce and science ministries published a draft list on Friday of 40 technologies whose export would be banned or restricted. The commerce ministry cites national security as the technology race with the U.S. intensifies.

What the list covers

  • 23 AI technologies, from large models to agents
  • 12 solar technologies, including polysilicon
  • Chip design, including AI and memory chips
  • Five biomedicine technologies

The draft list covers 23 AI technologies, from advanced large models to agents, 12 solar power technologies, chip design and five biomedicine technologies.

The Chinese government is implementing such necessary measures with the aims of reinforcing the security bottom line, preventing misuse and abuse, and ensuring that AI remains under human control.
