Musk is reported to have limited Ukraine's Starshield satellite service

According to reports citing unnamed US officials, Elon Musk ordered a cap on connection speeds for Ukraine's Starshield equipment, making some of its drones unusable.

"Starshield systems are owned and controlled by the US government. Any throughput or usage limits are decided by the US military and ultimately by the US president."

Who denies ordering it

  • Donald Trump: "It wasn't me"
  • Pete Hegseth: no Pentagon directive
  • Marco Rubio: "nothing to do with that"

President Donald Trump, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Secretary of State Marco Rubio have each said the administration ordered no slowdown.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy says Ukraine still cannot use its interceptors against Russian drones because of the limits, and US lawmakers from both parties want an investigation.
