Musk pledges a SpaceX share to every child in the United States

Elon Musk pledged on Monday to give one share of SpaceX to "every kid in America" next year. He gave no details on how it would be carried out.

With about 73 million children under 18 in the United States and SpaceX shares at US$146.03 on Friday, the pledge would be worth about US$10.66 billion.

The pledge came a day after AI company Anthropic said it would put 5 per cent of its shares into a new public benefit fund. Musk replied that shares should go directly to the public.

This will be the first of many.
