Florida's DMV was hacked after a police employee stored login details insecurely
A criminal got in on Sep 4 with credentials from an employee of a local police agency, who had stored them improperly on a device, the state said.
The data may include driver's licence and motor vehicle records, including document images. The state offers affected people one year of credit monitoring.
What we know
- Hackers used stolen credentials on Sep 4
- No evidence of misuse so far
Not yet
- Exactly how long they had access
- How many people were affected
The state says there is no evidence yet that the data has been misused, but its investigation is ongoing.
