Spotify says it filtered more than 50 million spammy, low-quality tracks from recommendations this year, on top of 75 million removed from the platform.

It spotted the spam by watching what listeners skip, then combined that with upload patterns, track data and AI-detection tools.

AI-generated artist identities now carry labels and stay out of recommendations unless listeners follow them, and artists can review releases under their name before they go public.
