Quebec releases $28 million more in emergency homelessness aid
Extra emergency places
1,000 more places this winter
Premier Paul St-Pierre Plamondon announced the money Friday at Montreal's Accueil Bonneau. It funds more than 1,000 extra emergency places in warming centres and shelters over the next five months.
The aid brings to $46 million the money to keep people warm this winter. It supports nearly 200 projects in 16 regions, the government said.
What's next
St-Pierre Plamondon calls it a first step ahead of a summit on homelessness in early 2027. He also plans to review the affordable housing policy to offer real social housing.
