Parks Canada confirms it will cut 500 full-time positions

Funding cut over three years

145 $ million

Ottawa decided to cut Parks Canada's funding by $145 million over three years, and the agency says programs will be scaled back or ended.

Interim CEO Andrew Campbell says the agency is using every means to limit how many staff are forced out. The timing of the cuts is not yet set.

“Saying today that our work is not essential to the sustainability of these parks is really disappointing and frustrating.”
