Ford names the MPP who quit cabinet over hotel expenses a parliamentary assistant

Pay bump

$22,500 on top of an MPP's salary

Toronto MPP Stan Cho is now parliamentary assistant to Education Minister Paul Calandra, Premier Doug Ford announced Thursday. The role pays more than an MPP's $157,350 salary.

Cho resigned as tourism minister on Jul 17 after it emerged he spent more than $16,000 on hotels over three years, though he represents a Toronto riding. He said he had repaid the money.

“Instead of holding him accountable, Doug Ford gave him a $22,500 pay bump with the people's hard-earned tax dollars.”
