Snow load caused Ottawa parking garage collapse, owner says
No one was hurt when a top corner of the garage at 170 Slater Street collapsed on Feb 26, 2025. It came less than 12 hours after a 911 call reported signs of imminent collapse.
The owner says an investigation found excessive snow load: cleared, piled-up snow exceeded the structure's rated loads. It says the cause was not linked to design, construction, maintenance or repairs.
