Starting Jan 4, 2027, the flags of Canada and Alberta must fly outside schools during the school year. The Franco-Albertan, municipal, sports team and Vatican City flags are also allowed.

First Nations and Métis Settlement flags, foreign national flags and the Royal Union Flag can fly only on specified days or official occasions, for no more than 14 consecutive days. Other flags need the province's permission.
