Engagement, not approval

Leader Yves-François Blanchet criticizes Carney's ties with China, Saudi Arabia and now Turkey. Carney replied this week that “engagement is not approval”.

Background

Laurier–Sainte-Marie has been vacant since Steven Guilbeault left the Liberals. The NDP's Nimâ Machouf is also running, and the Liberals have not named a candidate.

By-elections are also coming in Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie and Saint-Hyacinthe–Bagot–Acton in Quebec, and in Ontario and Saskatchewan.
