Canada-U.S. trade talks gain momentum, a Trump adviser says a deal is "very close"

White House economic adviser Kevin Hassett said Sunday the talks are "gathering steam". Sources close to the talks describe intense weekend negotiations.

Carney said Friday Canada is "ready to drop everything" and negotiate if the Americans act in good faith. Sources caution a deal is far from certain, given Trump's past behaviour.
