Toronto police charge three reservists in a crypto abduction case
Seven people face 82 charges after a man was abducted at gunpoint in North York on Jul 25, police say, because of his access to cryptocurrency.
Rounds allegedly stolen from the military
2,500 rounds
Police allege about 2,500 rounds of ammunition, roughly half of them blanks, were stolen from the Canadian Armed Forces.
The reservists charged
- Talarambage Fernando, 22
- James Moreau, 29
- Jack Miley, 24
The three accused soldiers are reservists with the 7th Toronto Regiment and have been removed from duties pending an administrative review.
While the Canadian Armed Forces maintains extensive controls and oversight mechanisms for ammunition and explosives, we recognize the need to put more safeguards in place.
