Author Steven Galloway tells court UBC made up excuses to fire him
Galloway, fired in 2016 as chair of the University of British Columbia's creative-writing program, is suing a former student and three others for defamation in B.C. Supreme Court.
What we know
- A retired judge found he sexually harassed her
- The judge did not find a sexual assault
- He was never charged with a crime
Not yet
- Most reasons in his dismissal letter
He testified that the university gave him a "laundry list" of reasons for his firing, which remain secret apart from his affair with the student.
UBC says it has well-established policies on sexual misconduct, but cannot comment on his testimony because of privacy obligations and because it is not a party to the trial.
