Teck's Highland Valley Copper strike enters its first full week

Strike vote, USW Local 7619

100 % of 944 voters

All 944 workers who voted backed industrial action, a first for the local, the union says.

The union says the issues include pay, pensions, benefits and staffing, and accuses Teck of seeking concessions despite record profits. The contract expired Sep 30.

The mine near Logan Lake, British Columbia, is Canada's largest open-pit mine. It produced more than 127,000 tons of copper last year.
