BC Ferries' board cuts ties with CEO Nicolas Jimenez
What's next
Brian Anderson, the company's vice-president of strategy and planning, is interim CEO, effective immediately. The board has also started a "revitalization review" of its services.
Contract for four new vessels
1 $ billion
The exit comes two days after the B.C. Conservatives won the provincial election. The party had called for Jimenez's firing over a $1-billion contract with a Chinese state-owned shipyard for four new vessels.
Jimenez told a House of Commons committee last year that all six compliant bids were from foreign countries. Two Canadian shipyards pre-qualified, but neither submitted a proposal.
