The 44 pro-Palestinian protesters were arrested in April 2024 at a downtown Montreal Scotiabank branch. They demanded that the bank divest from the weapons maker Elbit Systems.

14 pleaded guilty, $300 fines 30 others

Fourteen of the 44 pleaded guilty to violating a municipal noise bylaw and agreed to pay $300 fines. Their lawyer says most of the others had resolved their cases through community service.

The case ends months after Scotiabank sold its remaining Elbit shares. The protesters say they have filed a complaint against the judge, alleging bias.
