Santé Québec CEOs use public money to fund foundations

Five regional CEOs spent just over $22,000 since January 2025 on golf tournaments and gala dinners for hospital foundations, expense records obtained through access to information show.

The former CEO of the Montérégie-Est health authority paid more than $9,300 to about 10 foundations in 2025. The new CEO has ended the practice and attends only when invited.

Santé Québec says foundations are important partners. The Canadian Taxpayers Federation asks whether the spending is justified and where the limit lies.
