Nova Scotia committee to hear from the firm behind a planned Cape Breton AI data centre

EverWind Fuels said on Oct 16 that Anthropic had signed a 20-year lease for a facility in Point Tupper. The proposed data centre is valued at $10 billion.

First phase

95 megawatts of electricity

The first phase of the facility would draw 95 megawatts of electricity.

Opposition parties raise concerns about the environment, local water and power rates, while Premier Tim Houston says household rates will not rise.
