An LNG terminal could cost more than

70 $ billion

Premier Wab Kinew has championed a port expansion that would include a liquefied natural gas export terminal costing more than $70 billion.

Why it matters

The port has handled little traffic in recent years, but interest has returned as Canada looks to diversify trade routes and thinning sea ice lengthens the possible shipping season.
