A gas leak cuts power to about 32,000 Montreal homes

Work on site caused the leak, reported to 911 around 10:20 a.m. Tuesday at the corner of Louvain and Christophe-Colomb streets.

"We asked for a power cut to avoid anything that could cause a spark, an explosion or a fire in the area."

— Francis Fleury, Montreal fire service

About 50 firefighters secured the area. Power was back around 2:30 p.m., and no one was hurt.
