Halifax council puts off its decision on bike network alternatives
Councillors deferred action so two transportation committees can hear a report on alternatives first. Coun. Sean Cleary says an informed decision needs feedback from the people who will use the network.
Expected cost
85 $ million
The network is now expected to cost $85 million, up from $25 million when the project began.
“
"Those committees open the door to redesign, which opened the door to increase costs, which open the doors to delay."
— Mayor Andy Fillmore
What's next
Work isn't expected until 2028, so the committee review is not expected to delay the project.
