Equinor sees rising interest in Bay du Nord as its profit doubles
Adjusted operating income, Q3
12.4 US$ billion
Equinor's adjusted operating income hit US$12.4 billion in the third quarter, up from US$6.2 billion a year earlier, helped by high oil and gas prices.
Equinor still plans a final decision on Bay du Nord early next year, with first oil expected in 2031. Shell bought 30 per cent of the project after BP sold its 37.2 per cent share.
And us?
Bay du Nord, off Newfoundland, would be Canada's first deepwater oil project, at a cost of about $14 billion. The provincial government is considering a stake of up to 10 per cent.
