Calgary councillors seek a temporary pause on new data centres
A motion co-signed by Mayor Jeromy Farkas and four councillors would pause new rezoning applications for large-scale data centres until a city study and new land-use rules are done.
City administration would also create a new zoning district for data centres by March, and study their effects on infrastructure and regional water servicing.
What's next
Executive committee reviews the motion next week. It is unclear what a pause would mean for a large data centre rezoning already under review in northeast Calgary.
