One sexual assault charge against Frank Stronach is dropped ahead of his second trial

His lawyer, Leora Shemesh, says the prosecution involving one complainant was withdrawn from the Newmarket, Ontario, trial set for next year.

Stronach, who denies all allegations, still faces charges involving five other complainants.

In a separate Toronto trial he was found guilty of indecent assault in an encounter nearly 50 years ago. The judge has said the 94-year-old would not face jail.

Background

A second guilty verdict from June was set aside when the judge declared a rare post-verdict mistrial. Prosecutors have appealed.
