The Canada Revenue Agency tells 735 employees their jobs may be at risk, a union says

The Union of Taxation Employees says the workforce adjustment notices went out Wednesday, including to 534 of its members.

Reasons given

• End of pandemic-related funding
• Expenditure reductions
• Restructuring and centralization
• Digital or self-service delivery

The union says the agency cites several reasons, depending on the branch.

The agency had 48,774 employees on Mar 31, down from 52,499 a year earlier, and plans $1.2 billion in spending reductions over three years.
