The federal budget is titled “Masters of Our Destiny” and centres on sovereignty

Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne revealed the title and the cover of Budget 2026, which shows power lines over a forested valley. The budget is set to be tabled on Nov 5.

Background

The title echoes “Masters of Our Own House”, the slogan of Quebec premier Jean Lesage's 1962 campaign. That campaign led to private power companies being brought under Hydro-Québec.
