Kutryk says seeing Earth from his spacewalk left him disoriented and changed

Roll-out solar arrays on the International Space Station

Kutryk and NASA's Anil Menon installed seven of the eight new solar panels on the International Space Station, the Canadian Space Agency said. The new panels should raise the station's power output by up to 30 per cent.

Kutryk is the fifth Canadian to walk in space. The last was Quebec astronaut David Saint-Jacques in 2019.

Speaking from the station, Kutryk called floating above Earth disorienting and a sensory overload. He spotted his home province of Alberta and posted photos of Canada from orbit.

"I hope I can look toward Earth more often during this second spacewalk."
