According to reports, the driver was a sub-contractor with Metrolinx, which is working on the Ontario Line in the area. A Metrolinx spokesperson said its thoughts are with everyone affected.

We will be pushing for an urgent review of what additional measures can be implemented to improve safety at this and other nearby intersections.

— Councillor Rachel Chernos Lin

In February 2025, a dump truck driven by another Metrolinx sub-contractor seriously injured a woman in Toronto. Transportation Minister Prabmeet Sarkaria says measures followed, while Councillor Paula Fletcher says not enough has been done.
