Anthropic is expected to get a high-yield 'junk' credit rating after its IPO, reports say

Blackstone, the anchor investor in a US$63 billion deal to finance Anthropic's chips, has told investors it expects a double-B rating, according to reports.

Double-B (junk)

Blackstone had said Anthropic would reach investment grade before 2027, the reports say. It now expects the top tier of speculative grade.

Why it matters

A high junk rating would make it harder and costlier for Anthropic to fund its heavy spending. Neither company would comment, and the forecast is only a prediction.
