Seniors' co-op in Vaudreuil-Dorion to lose its round-the-clock health aide

Santé Québec told residents in September that from Dec 14, a health and social services aide will no longer be on site around the clock. They will get the regular home-support service of the local CLSC community health centre.

Nearly 200 people live in the co-op, with an average age of 80. Its on-site health model, in place since 2007, is said to be unique in Quebec.

Fear fewer visits

Santé Québec says a clinical review found little or no need for help in the evening and at night. Residents fear fewer care visits, at poor hours.

A resident has launched a petition to keep the current services. By Friday it had more than 550 signatures.
