Toronto police chief sees 'no failure' in Bridle Path home invasion probe

Bridle Path

Toronto, Ontario

Three masked, armed men broke into a home early on Oct 29, police say, and three members of the family of four were shot. Two were also struck with a hammer.

Chief Myron Demkiw said officers could not detain a man treated at hospital for a gunshot wound, because nothing then suggested that a suspect had been shot. He called the work "exceptional police work".

What we know

  • He was treated at hospital hours after the attack
  • Grounds for an arrest came Friday evening

Not yet

  • Where he is now
  • Who the other two suspects are

The man left the hospital after a few hours and is now the subject of a Canada-wide warrant. Police say he is armed and dangerous.
