StatCan finds little evidence AI is behind the decline in youth hiring

A Statistics Canada study found "no broad evidence" that AI has substantially cut hiring since November 2022, including for young workers and jobs seen as easier to automate.

Low AI exposure

4% to 3.3%

Higher AI exposure

3.2% to 3%

Hiring of workers aged 15 to 29 fell in jobs with low and high exposure to AI alike.

We have a lot of competing economic forces out there.
