Carney condemns a U.S. deal for Russian diesel, but thanks Trump for his ceasefire push

Russian diesel to be supplied at once

300,000 tonnes

The deal calls for Russia to supply 300,000 tonnes of diesel to U.S. and global markets right away, with more in the weeks to come.

It will provide additional revenue for Russia and help finance its illegal, unjustifiable war against Ukraine.

Supported

Later on Oct 11, Carney spoke with Trump, thanked him for his work toward an energy ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia, and said Canada strongly supports it.

And us?

Canada and its allies placed harsh sanctions on Russia's energy industry after the 2022 invasion of Ukraine, and the U.S. deal would partly lift them.
