Jewish military members' claims rejected in $150-million racism settlement

More than two dozen Jewish members of the Canadian Armed Forces were told their claims did not meet the settlement's racial identity criteria, according to reports.

Lowest payment

$5,000

Highest payment

$30,000

The class action, certified in 2024, covers racial discrimination or harassment linked to military service since Apr 17, 1985. Payments range from $5,000 to $30,000, depending on duration and severity.

Deloitte, which processes the claims, told one member that claims not based on racial discrimination or harassment are outside the scope of the class action. Members describe antisemitic remarks and harassment during their service.
