Cape Breton data centre: protesters rally on the Halifax waterfront
Protesters gathered on the Halifax waterfront on Saturday with a message for Premier Tim Houston: the planned data centre at Point Tupper would harm the environment and the community. Organizers say the project seemed "randomly announced."
"We already have wells that are drying up in the summertime. I don't think we can afford to do this."

Port Hawkesbury, Nova Scotia
A Port Hawkesbury resident says the data centre would draw from Landry Lake, the town's drinking water source. The town sits less than a kilometre from Point Tupper.
EverWind's CEO promises up to 2,000 construction jobs and 215 operating jobs; organizers call those numbers misleading. The premier says the project will help Canada build its computing power.
