Lacombe went to the Parti Québécois rally in Montreal on election night, Oct 5. He lost his cabinet post and was expelled from the Coalition Avenir Québec (CAQ).

“It was a bad decision. If I had to make that decision again today, I would make a different one,” Lacombe said on a Sunday talk show.

He said he had felt detached from his party for months, having already announced he was leaving, and went mainly to congratulate close friends.

What we know

  • He belongs to no party
  • He wants to return to politics

Not yet

  • Whether he will join the PQ

Lacombe says he belongs to no party and has no plan to change that in the coming weeks, but hopes to return to politics one day.

The CAQ has no seats in the National Assembly since the Oct 5 election. Martine Biron took over Lacombe's ministry within hours of his firing.
