Montreal opposition wants the police chief to answer to council over officers' alleged conduct
Opposition Leader Ericka Alneus of Projet Montréal wants police chief Fady Dagher at a special city council meeting within seven days, after allegations that an officer urinated on a homeless man.
“What message does that send to the public when we know an officer faces allegations of having urinated on someone? It is beyond comprehension.”

Protect the investigations
Mayor Soraya Martinez Ferrada said the allegations may hurt public trust, but warned that the motion could undermine independent investigations, including one by the RCMP.
Background
Four officers from station 39 in Montréal-Nord were suspended over repeated racist acts, and Quebec's prosecution service will decide whether to lay charges.
