Galloway defamation trial hears his accuser first went to UBC security in 2013
Author Steven Galloway is suing a former student, known as A.B. under a publication ban, and three others in the Supreme Court of British Columbia over allegations of sexual assault and harassment.
Background
The University of British Columbia fired him in 2016 after a retired judge found he had sexually harassed her; the judge did not find that he sexually assaulted her.
Stephen Bohnen, a former UBC security officer, testified Tuesday that A.B. complained in July 2013 that Galloway was sexually harassing her, and the court heard the file was referred to the RCMP.
On Monday, A.B.'s ex-husband, called by Galloway's lawyers, testified that she told him of an incident on Galloway's sailboat but refused to go to the police.
“She said she was going to ‘destroy him,’ were her direct words.”
