Nova Scotia NDP removes Paul Wozney as whip over a post on the France protests

In a since-deleted post, NDP MLA Paul Wozney wrote: "Learn from France. Own the streets. Shut the government down."

Background

The post answered a remedy on Bill 148, the Public Services Sustainability (2015) Act, which the Nova Scotia Supreme Court found unconstitutional this year. The Progressive Conservative caucus said he was calling for "France-style riots" and demanded discipline.

NDP Leader Claudia Chender called his words "careless" and said the party "unequivocally denounces violence or suggestion of violence in civic life." She said Wozney acknowledges the harm he caused.
