Air Canada cancels five more U.S. routes for 2027

The five routes to go

• Toronto Billy Bishop to Boston
• Toronto Pearson to Charleston

Citing weaker demand, Air Canada will drop five U.S. routes starting in 2027, including Toronto Pearson to Charleston, its only direct flight between Canada and South Carolina.

Air trips to the U.S. below 2024 levels

Canadians made 1.9 million return trips from the U.S. in September, up 6.8 per cent on a year earlier, according to Statistics Canada, but air trips remain 18.7 per cent below 2024 levels.

Trips by Canadians to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, fell by more than 65 per cent between 2024-25 and 2025-26, the steepest drop of any U.S. city, according to a University of Toronto School of Cities report.

New routes for summer 2027

• Toronto to Louisville
• Montreal to Indianapolis
• Edmonton to Newark

The airline still plans new service in summer 2027 between Toronto and Louisville, Montreal and Indianapolis, and Edmonton and Newark.
