Adam Waterous proposes crude exports to Asia by rail through northern B.C.

Waterous, chair of Strathcona Resources, wants heavy crude shipped on the existing CN Rail line to a new marine export terminal at the Port of Prince Rupert.

Extra crude to the West Coast

250,000 barrels a day

He says the project could move an extra 250,000 barrels a day to the West Coast in under two years, privately funded.

It needs an exemption from the federal oil tanker ban on B.C.'s north coast. Transport Canada said the ban remains in effect.
